Electronic music really took off in the 1990s from its rise in the 80s with Techno and House getting worldwide exposure. Rave, Drum and Bass, Happy hardcore, Garage and House were huge in nightclubs with many sub-genres like Speed garage, Jungle, Darkside hardcore and Trance. New styles like Trip-hop saw a big following and Hip-hop, still in its golden age was continually growing along with Rap and Urban music. Rock will never die so, Rock music still had momentum from its success in the 80s and spurred new trends like Grunge, Industrial rock and Britpop. Alternative rock styles like Punk rock, Nu-metal and Ska Punk emerged with bands like the Red hot chilli peppers and Nirvana.
