Electro

Electro

Electro started it’s evolution in the early 80s as a fusion of early hip-hop and funk when Disco was losing popularity in the USA. Electro music mainly uses beats made with electronic drum machines such as the Roland TR-808, synth bass lines and robotic vocals using a vocoder. As electro evolved over the years, new electronic studio equipment appeared like the TR-909 (drum machine) and TB-303 (bass) which are still used in today’s dance music styles. A good example of an early electro track would be Africa Bambaataa – Planet Rock. Electro has influenced many dance music styles including new wave, synth pop, techno and electropop.
